(i) Considering the parameters such as bond dissociation enthalpy , electron gain enthalpy and hydration enthalpy, compare the oxidizing power of `F_2` and `Cl_2`.
(ii) Complete the following reactiosn:
(a) `Cu+HNO_3("dilute")to`
(b) `Fe^(3+)+SO_2+H_2Oto`
(c) `XeF_4+O_2F_2to`

(i) The bond dissociatin enthalpy and electron gain enthalpy are higher for chlorine but hydration energy of fluorine is much higher. It compensates the effect of other two and makes flourine more oxidising than chlorine.
`(1)/(2)X_2(g)overset((1)/(2)DeltadissH^(@))to X(g)overset (DeltaegH^0)to X^(-)(g) overset(Deltahyd^H)toX^(-)(aq)`.
The relative oxidising power of the halogens can be further illustrated by their reactions with water.
`2F_2(g)+2H_2O(I) to 4H^(+)(aq)+4F^(+)(aq)+O_(2)(g)`
`Cl_2(g)+2H_2O(I) to HCI(aq)+HOCI(aq)`
(ii) `3Cu+8HNO_3("dil")to 3Cu(NO_3)_2+2NO+4H_2O`
(b) `2Fe^(2+)+SO_2+H_2Oto 2Fe^(2+)+SO_(4)^(2-)+4H^(+)`
(c) `XeF_(4)+overset (Delta)to XeF_6+O_2`.
