Dichloroacetic acid (CHCI2COOH) is oxidi...

Dichloroacetic acid `(CHCI_2COOH)` is oxidised to `CO_(2),H_(2)O` and `CI_(2)` by 600meq of an oxidising agent. Same amount of ammonia to form ammonium dichloroacetate:

A

0.0167

B

0.1

C

0.3

D

0.6

The correct Answer is:
B

`:. ` v.f. of dichloroacetic acid `= 2 ( 4 - 2) + 2(0- (-1))=6`
m.eq. of dichloroacetic acid = m.eq. of oxidising agent = 600
`:. ` m.moles of dichloroacetic acid `=(600)/(6)=100`
`CHCl_(2)CO OH+NH_(3)rarrCHCl_(2)CO ONH_(4)`
From reaction, m.moles of `NH_(3)` = m.moles of dichloroacetic acid = 100
`:.` Moles of `NH_(3)=(100)/(1000)=0.1`
