Do free electrons travel to region of higher potential or lower potential?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The electrons being negatively charged travel in the direction opposite to the direction of the electric field. We know that the electric potential decreases in the direction of the electric field. Thus, it can be said that the electrons flow from the region of lower potential towards that of higher potential.
