Suppose the initial charge on the capactor in the above question is 6 mC. What is the total energy stored in the capactor intially ? What is the total energy at later time ?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Given, initial charge on capacitor, `q_(0) = 6 mC = 6 xx 10^(-3)` C
`therefore` Energy stored initially is given by
` U_(0) (q_(0)^(2))/(2C ) = (36 xx 10^(-6))/(2 xx 30 xx 10^(-6))`
= 0.6 J
At later time, total energy remains constant, i.e., 0.6 J. It only shared between inductor and capacitor.
