In an alternating current circuit consisting of elements in series, the current increases on increasing the frequency of supply. Which of the following elements are likely to consitute the circuit ?

A

Only resistor

B

resistor and an inductor

C

Resistor and a capacitor

D

Only a capacitor

The correct Answer is:
c,d

In case of circuit consisting of a capacitor , its reactance is given by
`X_(C) = (1)/(omega C) = (1)/(2 pi f C)`
where `omega = 2 pi` f is frequency of AC source.
We can see that on increasing the frequency of supply. `X_(C) ` decreases and hence current in the circuit increases.
Also , R remains ineffective irrespective of the change in source frequency.
therefore, the circuit may contain only a capacitor or series comination of a resistor and a capacitor.
options (c) and (d) are correct.
