Radio station telecast live news . Explain also estimate the time taken by such a singal to travel from one extreme end to another of Earth .

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Radio stations transmit radio waves which move with the speed of light . They travel around the globe in less than a few seconds , undergoing multiple reflections between ground and ionosphere .
To travel a distance of half the circumference of Earth `( pi r ( 22)/( 7) xx 6400 = 20114.29 km ) ` The wave will take just `((20114.29 xx 10 ^3 )/( 3 xx 10^8 ) = 6.7 xx 10^(-2) s)`
Thus it can be said that the ratio stations accurately telecast live news
