Even though an electric field `vecE` exerts a force `avecE` on a charged particle yet the electric field of an EM wave does not contribute to the radiation pressure (but transfer energy). Explain.

Text Solution

In an em wave m the electric field is oscillating . So the electric force on the charged particle is an oscillating force . This electric force when averaged over a complete cycle is zero because field only transfers energy and does not contribute to the radiation pressure .
