Is Huygen's principle valid for longitudinal sound waves?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Huygens. principle basically states that every point on a wavefront can be considered as a secondary source of tiny wavelets that spread out in the forward direction of the wavefront itself. Sound waves are longitudinal in nature. When one person is speaking directly to another person, he can be heard by other surrounding people too. This is because secondary wavelengths spread out in all different directions.
So, we can say Huygen.s principle is valid for longitudinal sound waves also.
