Can a non-polar molecule have polar covalent bonds?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Yes. Though the bonds in a molecule are polar, yet the arrangement of bonds is such that the overall polarity is zero. For example, `CO_(2)` molecule has net zero dipole moment, but each `CO` bond is polar.
