In a system.
`A(s)+B(g)+` Heat `rarr 2C(s)+2D(g)`
equilibrium is established. The pressure of B vapour is doubled to re - stablish the equilibrium. The factor by which D is changed is :

A

2

B

3

C

`sqrt(2)`

D

`sqrt(3)`

Text Solution

The correct Answer is:
C

`K=([D]^(2))/([B])`
Let [D] = x amd [B] = y
`K=(x^(2))/(y)`
When equilibrium is re - established, let n is the factor by which D is changed.
`[B]=2y " " [D] = nx`
`K=((nx)^(2))/(2y)`
`(n^(2)x^(2))/(2y)=(x^(2))/(y)`
`n^(2)=2` or `n = sqrt(2)` .
