A ball bounces to 80% of its original height. Calculate the mechanical energy lost in each bounce.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Let Initial P.E.=mgh
`"P.E. after first bounce" =" mg"xx80% "of" h=0.80 mgh`
P.E.lost in each bounce =0.20 mgh
`therefore` Fraction of P.E. lost in each bouce `=(0.20mgh)/(mgh)=0.20`
