A wire is stretched by 0.01 m when it is stretched by certain force. Another wire of the same material but double the length and double the diameter is stretched by the same force. What is the elongation in metres ?

`Delta l = (Fl)/(pi r^2Y)`
`((Delta l)_(2))/((Delta l)_(1)) = ((l_2)/(l_1)) ((r_1)/(r_2))^(2) = 2 xx (1/2)^(2) = 1/2`
`(Delta l)_(2) = 1/2 xx 0.01`
`(Deltal)_(2) = 0.005 m`.
