What is the pressure on a swimmer 10 m below, the surface of a lake ?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Here, `h = 10 m, g = 9.8 ms^(-2) , rho_w = 1000 kg m^(-3)`
Pressure on a swimmer 10 m below the surface of the lake.
`P = P_(a) + h rho g = (1 xx 10^5) + (10 xx 9.8 xx 10^3)`
`=10 xx 10^4 + 9.8 xx 10^4 = 19.8 xx 10^4`
`P = 1.98 xx 10^5 ~~ 2 atm`.
