Why does an empty vessel produce more sound than a filled one?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The intensity of sound is directly proportional to the square of amplitude of vibration. `1propA^(2)` since, the amplitude of vibration of air molecules (empty vessel) is greater than liquid molecules (filled vessel), therefore empty vessel produces louder sound than the filled vessel.
