Physiological effects of ethylene :
(i) It promotes the ripening of fruits E.g. Tomato, Apple, Mange , Banana etc.
(ii) It breaks the dormancy of buds, seeds and storage organs.
(ii) Autogamy or self pollination is the transfer of pollen grains from the anther to the stigma of same flower or another flower borne on the same plant. Eg. Hibiscus.
(iii) (i) Retain vegetation cover, so that soil is not exposed.
(ii) Cattle grazing should be controlled.
(iii) Crop rotation and soil management improve soil organic matter.
(iv) Run off water should be stored in the catchment.
(v) Reforestation, terracing and contour ploughing.
(vi) Wind speed can be controlled by planting trees in the form of a shelter belt.
