In a region, steady and uniform electric and magnetic fields are present . These two fields are parallel to each other. A charged particle is released from rest in this region . The path of the particle will be a

The particle is projected at an acute angle with field, so its component parallel to fields will be in the same direction as that of the field (not antiparallel). On the positive charge, electric force acts in the same direction, as that of electric field. Due to electric force velocity parallel to field will keep increasing, which will result in the helical path of increasing pitch, as we know that charged particle projected at an angle with magnetic field follows helical path. In case of the negative charge pitch will first decrease till electric field reverses its direction of motion. After that its pitch will again start increasing in a reverse direction.
