(a) Bicephalic ribs mean vertebral part of each rib being formed of two heads: Tubercular head (which articulates with transverse process of thoracic vertebra) and capitularn head (which articulates with centrum of thoracic vertebra).
(b) True ribs are those ribs bhose sternal parts are directly attached to sternum. First seven pairs of ribs are true ribs.
(c ) Floating ribs whose sternal parts are free. 11th and 12th pairs of ribs are floating ribs.
