A glass slab is placed over a page in which letters are printed in different colours. Will the image of all the letters lie in the same plane ?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

No. Because the refractive index of glass for different colours is different and the normal shift is given by
`d=t(1+(1)/(mu))`
So then shift is maximum for red light, minimum for violet light, hence the letters will appear to be raised to different heights and hence does not lie in the same plane.
