Explain the mechanism of formation of concentrated urine in mammals.

The normal human urine is about four times as concentrated as plasma of blood. This ability of concentrating the urine is a main adaptation for conservation of water and is regulated by two counter current mechanisms :
(1) Counter current mechanism in Vasa rectae:
