This question has statement I and statement II. Of the four choices given after the statements, choose the one that best describes the two statements.
Statement I: A point particle of mass m moving with speed v collides with stationary point particle of mass M. If the maximum energy loss possible glven as `f(1/2mv^2)` then `f=(m/(M+m))`
Statement II: Maximum energy loss occurs when the particles get stuck together as a result of the collision.

A

If both assertion and reason are corret and reason is a correct explanation of the assertion .

B

If both assertion and reason are correct but reason is ot the correct explanation of assertion .

C

If assertion is correct but reason is incorrect .

D

If both assertion and reason are incorrect .

The correct Answer is:
D

During the inelastic collision , maximum energy is lost
Conservation of linear momentum ` , mv = (M+m)V `
`V = (mv)/((M+m))`
` K.E = 1/2 mv^(2)`
`K.E _(f) = 1/2 ((mm)/(M+m))v^(2) =1/2 mv^(2) ((m)/(M+m))`
Hence loss in energy is `K.E_(f) - K.E _(i) = 1/2 ((Mm)/(M+m))v^(2)`
`f = (Mm)/(M+m)`

This question contains Statement-1 and Statement-2. Of the four choices given after the statements, choose the one that best describes the two statements. Statement-1: For a charged particle moving from point P to point Q, the net work done by an electrostatic field on the particle is independent of the path connecting point P to point Q. Statement-2: The net work done by a conservative force on an object moving along a closed loop is zero.
