Convergent beam of light is passed through a diverging lens. Light rays after passing lens

A

must be a parallel beam

B

must be a divergent beam

C

may be a divergent beam

D

may be a convergent beam

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The correct Answer is:
C, D

It is for sure that diverging lens will try to diverge the light rays but when diversion is enough then output beam may be a divergent one but when diversion is not enough then output beam may remain a convergent one. Hence, options (c) and (d) are correct. There is also one possibility that output beam is parallel but it is not necessary. Hence, option (a) cannot be correct. We know that option (d) is correct so option (b) cannot be correct.
