A ball is dropped it on a floor and bounces back to a height somewhat less then the original height. The curve which its motion correctly about y and t is

A

B

C

D

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The correct Answer is:
B

When a ball is dropped on a floor,
`y= (1)/(2) g t^(2)` ..(1)
So the graph between y and t is a parabola. Here as time increases, y decreases.
When the ball bounces back, then
`y = u t+ (1)/(2) g t^(2)` …(2)
The graph between y and t will be a parabola. But here as time increases. y also increases. So (b) represents the graph.

STATEMENT - 1 : A ball is thrown upwards, rises to its peak and eventually falls back to the original height. As the ball rises, its acceleration is upwards, as it falls, its acceleration is downwards. STATEMENT - 2 : A ball is thrown upward, rises to its peak and eventually falls back to the original height. The speed at which it is launched equals the speed at which it lands. (Assume negligible air resistance) STATEMENT - 3 : A very massive object will free fall at the same rate of acceleration as a less massive object.
