Explanation

Diets lacking essential micronutrients like irion, vitamin a, iodine and zinc enchance the risk of diseases, reduce life span and even affect the mental abilities. Biofortification is breeding crops with higher levels of vitamins and minerals, or higher protein and healtheir fats.
Objectives of biofortification breeding are:
(i) Protein contents and quality: (ii) OIl contents and quality (iii) Vitamin contents and (iv) Micronutrient and mineral contents.
