How can we improve the success rate of fertilization artificial insemination in animal husbandry programmers?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

In artificial insemination, the semen of a bull of good breed is collected and stored at very low temperature. During heat or oestrus peiod, the semen of high quality bull is introduced into vagina of high quality cows. By this technique, upto 400 cows can be inseminated by semen of a single bull. There are more than 6000 aritificial insemination centres in India. Most important of these is IVRI (Indian Veterinary Research Institute) located at Izzatnagar (U.P.) It increases the chances of fertilization and also ensures progeny of good quality. It also avoids transportation of animals.
