A bilobed, dithecous anther has 100 microspore mother cells per microsporangium. How many male gametophytes this anther can produce ?

Text Solution

There are four microsporangia in each anther. Total number of microspore mother cells will be `100 xx 4 = 400.` Number of microspores produced will be `400 xx 4 = 1600.` Number of male gametophytes produced will be thus : 1600.
