Meiotic division during oogenesis is different from that in spermatogenesis. Explain how and why?

In spermatogenesis, the spermatogonial cells produces 4 nearly equal sized spermatids which transform into four spermatozoa so no polar body is formed. But in oogenesis, each oogonium produces only one ovum and 2 or 3 very small sized polar bodies are formed. This is due to unequal cytokinesis so that most of reserve food is retained in the ovum to provide nutrition to developing embryo before implantation and placentation.
