(i) FSH (Follicular Stimulating Hormone). In females, it stimulates transformation of primary follicles of ovaries to Graafian follicles, secretion of estrogens from granulosal cells of the mature follicle, and development of secondary sexual characters. In males, FSH stimulates sertoli cells, to secrete inhibin hormone. (ii) LH (Luteinising Hormone). In females, its surge stimulates ovulation, formation of corpus luteum and secretion of progesterone - In males LH (CSH) stimulates Laydig cells to secrete testosterone.
