Maintenance of personal and public hygiene is necessary for prevention and control of many infectious diseaes. Justify the staement giving suitable examples.

(i) Personal hygiene includes self-cleanliness by following clean habits and adopting healthy habits. Clean habits include washing of hands, trimming of nails, regular bathing, regular brushing of teeth, regular washing of clothes, etc. to prevent the chances of microbial infections e.g. dental caries, fomite-borne pathogens. Healthy habits include avoiding alcoholism, smoking and drug addiction, regular exercise, taking proper sleep, breathing through nose, covering of eatables, etc. to keep free from contamination.
(ii) Public hygiene includes proper disposal of garbage and human and animal excreta, providing safe and germ free water, vaccination, etc. to prevent the spread of infectious diseases in community e.g. water borne diseases.
