Out of cobalt and zinc salts, which is attracted in a magnetic field. Explain with reasons.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Cobalt has d electrons in the outer shell and therefore, has three unpaired electrons. Therefore, it will be attracted in a magnetic field. Zinc has filled `d^10` configuration and therefore, will not be attracted by the magnetic field.
