`SnCl_2` is strong reducing agent and therefore, it reduces `HgCl_2` to `Hg_2 Cl_2` and then to mercury as:
`SnCl_2 + 2HgCl_2 to SnCl_4 + Hg_2Cl_2`
`Hg_2Cl_2 + SnCl_2 to SnCl_4 + 2Hg `
