In a closed vessel of 5 litres capacity, 1 g of `O_(2)` is heated from `300` to `600 K`. Which statement is not correct ?

A

Pressure of the gas increases

B

The rate of collision increases

C

The number of moles of gas increases

D

The energy of gaseous molecules increases

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The correct Answer is:
C

At constant V of a definite mass
`(P_(1))/(T_(1))= (P_(2))/(T_(2)):. (P_(1))/(p_(2))=(300)/(600)=(1)/(2) `i.e, pressure increases
and on increasing temperature energy of molecules increases so the rate of collisions also increases and number of moles remains constant because there is neither additon nor removal of gas in the occuring.
