What is the difference between terminal voltage and emf of a cell ?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The emf of a cell is the potential difference between its terminals in an open circuit i.e., when no current is being drawn from the cell. The terminal voltage is the potential difference between the terminals of cell in a closed circuit i.e., when some current is being drawn from the cell.
