Can the terminal potential difference of a cell exceed its e.m.f. ?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Yes, the termial potential difference becomes greater than the emf of a cell when some battery with a greater emf drives current into the positive terminal of the given battery. In this case we say that battery is being charged.
