A negligbly small current is passed through a wire of length 15 cm and uniform cross-section `6.0xx10^(-7) m^(2)` and its resistance is measured to be `5.0 Omega`. What is the resistivity of the material at the temperature of the experiment ?

Since, the current through the wire is negligibly small, there will be no change in the temperature of the wire so, resistance of the wire is taken as constant. The resistance of a wire of resistivity `rho`, length l and area of cross section A is given by:
`R= rho (l)/(A) rArr rho = (RA)/(l)`
Here, `l=15 m A= 6.0 xx 10^(-7) m^(2) R= 5.0 Omega`
`:. rho = (5 xx 6 xx 10^(-7))/(15) = 2 xx 10^(-7) Omega m`
