What is the advantages of using thick metallic strips to join wires in a potentiometer ?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Resistance of a conductor varies inversely with its area of cross section. Thick metallic stripes have larger area of cross section and thus have low resistance. This ensures that the resistance of potentiometer wire is not affected by the resistance of these strips.
