Power P is to be delivered to a device v...

Power `P` is to be delivered to a device via transmission cables having resistance `R_(c)`. If `V` is the voltage across `R` and `I` the current through it , find the power wasted and how can it be reduced.

Power wasted in the transmission process will be the power that is dissipated in transmission cables due to their resistance. For a given power P, we know that:
`P= VI`
`rArr I = (P)/(V)`
The power wasted in the transmission cables is given by
`rArr P. = I^(2) R_(C ) = (P^(2))/(V^(2)) R_(C)`
It can be reduced by transmitting the power at high potential.
