What volume of 96% `H_(2)SO_(4)` solution (density 1.83 g/mL) is required to prepare 4 litre of 3.0 M `H_(2)SO_(4)` solution ?

A

`14.7 mL`

B

`29.4 mL`

C

`6.8 mL`

D

`13.60 mL`

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The correct Answer is:
D

Moles of `H_(2)SO_(4) = (80)/(98) ` mol
Volume of solution ` = (100)/(1.8) = 5.5 mL`
Molarity of solution `= (80 xx 1000)/(98 xx 55) = 14.7 M`
Now `" " M_(1)V_(1) = M_(2)V_(2)`
`14.7 xx V_(1) = 0.2 xx 1000`
`V_(1) = (0.2 xx 1000)/(14.7) = 13.60 mL`
