(a) Calculate the mass of Ag deposited at cathode when a current of 2 amperes was passed through a solution of `AgNO_(3)` for 15 minutes
(Given : Molar mass of `Ag = 108 g mol^(-1) 1F = 96500 C mol^(-1)`)
(b) Define fuel cell

Text Solution

The correct Answer is:
2.014 g

`I = 2A , t = 15` min = `15 xx 60 = 9600` s
Q` = I xx t = 2 xx 900 = 1800 C`
96500 C of electricity deposit Ag = 108 g
1800 C of electricity will deposit Ag = `(108 xx 1800)/(96500)`
`= 2.014 g`
