What is the role of `ZnCl_(2)` in dry cell ?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

`ZnCl_2` combines with `NH_(3)` produced to form the complex `[Zn (NH_(3))_(2) Cl_(2)]` , otherwise the pressure developed due to `NH_(3)` would crack the seal of the cell.
