Due to powerful electron withdrawing effect of the `-NO_(2)` group, the benzene ring in `C_(6)H_(5)NO_(2)` is deactivated towards Friedel Craft’s alkylation and hence it is used as a solvent in many Fridel-Craft’s reaction.
