Why are hydrophobic sols easily coagulated ?

Hydrophobic sols are unstable . The charge on colloidal particles can be removed easily on addition of small amount of electrolytes (or) by shaking due to which particles become neutral and approach nearer to each other to from aggregates and settle down.
