What is total internal reflection? Mention two applications of optical fibres.

When a ray of light travelling from denser medium to rares medium and is incident at an angle greater than critical angle the ray does not undergo refraction. It undergoes only reflection. This phenomenon is called total internal reflection. 2
Applications :
(i) Used in endoscopy.
(ii) Used in the field of communication.
