The photograph of a house occupies an area of `1.7cm^2` on a 35 slide. The slide is projected on to a screen, and the area of the house on the screen is `1.55m^2` What is the liner magnification of the projector screen arrangement?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Area of the house on the slide =`1.75 cm^(2)`
Area of the image of the house formed on the screen `=1.55 m^(2)`
`=1.55 xx10^(4) cm^(2)`
Arial magnification, `m_(a) =("Area of image ")/("area of object") =1.55/1.75 xx10^(4)`
`:.` Linear magnification , `m_(1)=sqrt(m_(a))`
`=sqrt(1.55/1.76xx10^(4))=94.11`

After that, he moves gradually the flame towards the lens and each time its image on the screen. (a) In which direction does he move the lens to focus the flame on the screen? (b) What happens to the size of the image of the flame formed on the screen ? (c ) What difference is seen in the intensity (brightnees) of the image of the flame on the screen ?
