A cyclist starts from the center O of a circular park of radius 1km, reaches the edge P of the park, then cycles along the PQ circumference and returns to the center along OQ as shown in fig. If the round trip taken ten minute, the (a) net displacement, (b) average velocity and (c) average speed of the cyclists (in kilometer per hour) is

a) Since both the initial and final positions are the same therefore the net displacement is zero.
b) Average velocity is the ratio of net displacement and total time taken. Since the net displacement is zero therefore the average velocity is also zero.
c) Average speed = `("distance covered")/("time taken")`
`=(OP + "Actual distance PQ + OQ)/(10"minutes")`
`(1km +1/4 xx 2pi xx 1km +1km)/(10//60h)`
`6(2+22/14)kmh^(-1)` = `6 xx 50/14km h^(-1)`
`=21.43 kmh^(-1)`

A particle is moving with constant speed V m//s along the circumference of a circle of radius R meters as shown. A, B and C are three points on periphery of the circle and DeltaABC is equilateral. The magnitude of average velocity of particle, as it moves from A to C in clockwise sence, will be :

A car travels from Twon A to Twon B at an average speed of 40 miles per hour, and returns immediately along the same route at an average speed of 50 miles per hour. What is the average speed in miles per hour for the round - trip?

Read each statement below carefully and state, with reasons, if it is true or false : (a) The net acceleration of a particle in circular motion is always along the radius of the circle towards the center. (b) The velocity vector of a particle at a point is always along the tangent to the path of the particle at that point. (c) The acceleration vector of a particle in uniform circular motion averaged over one cycle is a null vector.

A runner jogs a along a straight road (in the +x direction) for 30 min , travelling a distance of 6 km . She then turns around and walks back towards her starting point for 20 min , travelling 2 km during this time. State true// false: a. The final displacement of the entire trip is 0 . 16 km min^(-1) . b. Her average speed for the entire is 0.16 km min^(-1) . c. The average velocity for the entire trip is 0.4 km min^(-1) . d. The runner s average velocity while jogging is 0.4 km min^(-1) . e. Her average velocity while walking is 0.1 km min^(-1) .

A particle of charge q and mass m is projected with a velocity v_0 toward a circular region having uniform magnetic field B perpendicular and into the plane of paper from point P as shown in Fig. 1.136. R is the radius and O is the center of the circular region. If the line OP makes an angle theta with the direction of v_0 then the value of v_0 so that particle passes through O is
