Why is ethyl amine a stronger base than...

Why is ethyl amine a stronger base than aniline ?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Ethylamine is a stronger base than aniline due to - I effecl of Phenyl group in aniline. In the aniline the electron pair on the nitrogen atom is involved in conjugation with the electron pair of the ring which gives the Positive Charge on nitrogen atom in some of the contributing structures and he.nee loss of electron pair becomes hard.
