Microbes which serve as alternative source of proteins for animals and humans are called single cell proteins.
Example-spirulina, methylophilus. Methylotrophus spirulina can be grown easily on materials like waste water from potato processing plants. It also reduces environment pollution. Some of single cell proteins form high biomass.
