Text Solution

Verified by Experts

a] Newlands. law of octaves could be applied only till calcium. After calcium, every 8th element did not possess the properties of the Ist. Thus, the law of octaves failed for elements with higher atomic masses.
(b) Newlands assumed that only 56 elements existed and left no blank space for possible elements that could be discovered later.
