Why is the path of sunlight visible when it passes through the canopy of a dense forest ?

When sunlight passes through the canopy of a dense forest, the light is scattered by the dust particles and tiny water droplets in the mist. Hence, due to Tyndall effect, the path of sunlight becomes visible.
