In a triangle ABC, `a-2b +c=0`.The value of `cot(A/2)cot(C/2)` is

A

`(9)/(2)`

B

3

C

`(3)/(2)`

D

1

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The correct Answer is:
B

Given, `a-2b+c=0 rArr a+c=2b cot ((A)/(2))cot((C)/(2))`
`=sqrt((s(s-a))/((s-b)(s-c))xx(s(s-c))/((s-a)(s-b)))=sqrt((s^(2))/((s-b)^(2)))=(s)/(s-b)`
`=(2s)/(2s-2b)=(a+b+c)/(a+b+c-2b)=(2b+b)/(2b-b)=(3b)/(b)=3`.
