A motor car is travelling at `30 m//s` on a circular road of radius `500m`. It is increasing in speed at the rate of `2 ms^(-2)`. What is its acceleration ?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

In this problem,
`a_t=(dv)/(dt)=2ms^(-2)`
`a_(r) =v^2/r =(30xx30)/500 = 1.8 ms ^(-2)`
so , `a=sqrt(a_(r)^2+a_(t)^2)=sqrt((1.8)^2+(2)^2)=2.7ms^(-2)`
